Karen King's humble opinion
9/10 Very good. I am pleased with this.
What's it about?
I enjoyed this book, it's fun, bright and colourful.
What happens?
Milo is a bit anxious about the imminent arrival of his baby brother so when his mother has to go on a food finding mission Milo chooses to deliver the post rather than hatching the egg. We follow Milo on his exciting and sometimes dangerous journey as he delivers parcels to the other animals until only one parcel is left, and that one is a special delivery that is unwrapping itself…
Is it easy to read?
The target audience is under 5's but slightly older children will also enjoy reading this. The entertaining text and bright, appealing pictures make it fun to read and listen to. Debbi Gliori has managed to get an unusual angle to the age-old 'jealousy of a new sibling' story and also subtly thrown in some educational information about animal babies too.
Anything else?
Debi Gliori has written and illustrated many picture books, including 'No Matter What' and the 'Pure Dead' series for older children
Other books by Debi Gliori include Pure Dead Brilliant, Pure Dead Magic, Pure Dead Wicked.
Who says so?
This review by Karen King.
The publisher reckons...
Milo's mum has laid an Egg, and it's due to hatch at any time. So when Mum has to go on a food-finding expedition, Dad has to look after the Egg. So it's up to Milo to deliver the Penguin Post mail. He delivers parcels of all shapes and sizes to all sorts of animals. As he is delivering the last parcel he realises there's an extra package in the mailbag, one that he needs to get home as quickly as he can...
