Mrs Mad's humble opinion
10/10 Excellent work. Well done!
What's it about?
Duck, Cat and Squirrel live together in an old white cabin, there they make lovely pumpkin soup!
What happens?
Cat, Duck and Squirrel always cook their pumpkin soup together, in exactly the same way, but when Duck decides things should be done differently the three friends fall out and Duck leaves. Cat and Squirrel are so worried about their friend that they really think about the importance of friendship and set out to find Duck.
Is it easy to read?
A great book to read at bedtime, with a young child. A new reader will find this the sort of book they keep coming back too. The lovely autumnal colours will be especially popular through the autumn and winter months.
Anything else?
This is a beautiful, poetic book, which is a joy to read. The illustrations are truly wonderful and will capture the hearts of young and old alike. I'm sure parents will love to read this to their youngsters and it would be a popular choice in the classroom.
Other books by Helen Cooper include Tatty Ratty.

And what do you think?
Alexandra Strick, The Guardian
Three friends live in their woodland cabin, singing and brewing up vast cauldrons of delicious pumpkin soup. This is a picture book to savour. It's a mouth-watering triumph that left me craving a bowl of the golden broth. And I don't even like pumpkin.
Philippa Reece, Amazon.co.uk
Three friends, Duck, Squirrel and Cat, join together every evening to make pumpkin soup. Each has their own very important part to play in the process and the soup is always delicious. Then, one day, Duck decides he wants to stir the soup instead of addin

I thought it was funny and I think that it would be the type of story that the little ones will understand.
